    Too often we think of gadgets like small devices for us to have fun: mp3 players, cell phones, PDAs, music players. So, forget those who gave to help people and really change your life.

    This article is about the gadgets that improve people’s lives and are not as well known as some of the gadgets and fun. I will talk about the gadgets built for people with disabilities, the devices that help people have a better life. Most of these devices are made for the blinds, so I will start with them.

    Electronic Eyes

    This high tech device recognizes the white stripes of a crosswalk and reads traffic lights could tell a blind person when it is safe to cross the street. The electronic eyes are being developed in the Kyoto Institute of Technology.

    Braille PDA and PC

    The Braille display allows blind users to use computers, or PDAs. The use of gadgets in Braille refreshable Braille displays, raised small dots through holes in a flat surface to create Braille that is updated as the user input commands. Therefore, a blind person can play music, read books, take notes, make presentations, or the revision and editing of documents.

    PC with a screen reader

    Screen readers for access to the information displayed on computer monitors and interpret that information via text to speech output. This software must be used along with text to speech synthesizer to allow the use of blinds on the computer offers easy.IBM Home Page Reader, a special software to read and navigate Web pages for those who are blind.

    Talks cell phone software

    Conversations software was created by Cingular Wireless. With a special person will have full access to the capabilities of cell phones using only your voice.

    Other usual gadgets for blinds are: Braille and talking watches, Braille to identify the color of the labels on clothes, writing and signature touch guides, magnifying glasses and talking calculators.

    For deaf people there are several useful gadgets that will inform you.

    Portable Amplifiers

    These are small devices that can be easily transported and used to provide a greater sound amplification.

    Telecommunication devices

    Telecommunication devices for the deaf have keyboards for writing, and the conversation appears in a letter read on screen or on paper.

    Telecaption Adapters

    The adapter is connected to the television. Allowing viewers to read subtitles on the TV screen.

    Alerting gadgets

    Now, a deaf person can tell when someone knocks at the door when the baby is crying or the phone is ringing. All these are possible thanks to early warning systems. An alert system for the deaf will send a signal if the baby is crying, the doorbell rings, the phone rings, the smoke alarm is in alarm systems or security alarm began to awaken. The signal can be visual (light), auditory (an increase in amplification), or vibrotactile.

    For those who have no hands or fingers are some of the new devices to improve their lives.

    X-Finger

    X-Finger replaces lost fingers medical gadget created by Dan Didrick. Its a set of fingers, with a full range of movements, including the ability to bend your fingers like normal.

    The bionic hand

    The bionic hand was created by David Gow. It is unique because the thumb and fingers can move and grip as a human hand and is unique in that the patient uses the mind and muscles to control movement.

    So when you hear the word gadgets do not think that only one device to have fun with, to think of devices that improve people’s lives, especially those with disabilities.
